About 2717 Recovery

Sober living is a structured, substance-free environment that supports independent living for individuals in recovery from addiction. Without sober living support, only 11% of people remain sober in the first year. With 6–12 months in a sober living environment, that number increases to 68%, and with spiritual support, the percentage can rise even further.

By offering spiritual guidance, intentional relationships, and opportunities to practice life skills, 2717 Recovery fosters both emotional and spiritual growth. This creates space for lasting transformation, not only in individuals but also within families and communities.

Mike’s recovery journey revealed critical gaps in quality of care and consistent support, inspiring him to create a program where individuals feel seen, valued, and loved.

2717 Recovery is a home that offers a more dignified approach to sober living. It provides privacy, independence, and structured support, along with job development and consistent encouragement for whole-person healing and lasting sobriety.

Many local sober living homes place up to 13 men in bunk beds within a three-bedroom, one-bathroom house. In contrast, Mike has intentionally remodeled and built a home with three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, housing no more than three individuals per room and no bunk beds. Each resident has access to their own refrigerator, along with multiple washers and dryers. The program also offers Bible studies and practical pathways forward, including connections to Detroit Works, union opportunities, trade schools, and support for starting a business. Residents are encouraged to pursue careers such as plumbing, electrical work, and other skilled trades.

One of the most challenging parts of recovery is the first month. During this time, individuals are working to secure identification, prepare resumes, and attend interviews, all while covering initial living costs. 2717 Recovery’s mission is to help offset these early expenses, as well as provide additional needs like food and household support.
