About Full Throttle

Many, if not most, people in Metro Detroit live outside public transit routes and have limited access to rideshare options, leaving many individuals and families to rely on friends and family for rides to work, school, grocery stores, and doctor appointments. Access to a reliable car is essential for independence and daily survival.

With a dependable vehicle, families gain the stability they need to care for their children, maintain employment, and pursue brighter futures. For many, a car provides more than transportation — it offers hope and the ability to move forward when life feels overwhelming.

Over 20 years ago, Mark, an auto enthusiast, looked around Metro Detroit—the Motor City—and saw something others missed: thousands of skilled, passionate automotive enthusiasts with no meaningful place to use their gifts for something bigger than themselves. His prayer wasn’t complicated: “God, what if we could mobilize this community—give people a place to serve, connect, and use what they love for a greater purpose?”

Mark and his team have built a thriving community grounded in love for each other, God, and those in need. Today, Full Throttle is a community with seasoned mechanics and first-timers alike, united not just by a love of cars, but by a calling to serve. No experience required. Just a heart to contribute and a willingness to learn.

A vital part of their program is the partnership with churches, shelters, and job training programs that have spent months walking alongside families. These partners identify the candidates, and Full Throttle provides the vehicles. Together, they witness two transformations: one in the family who receives the vehicle, and another in the volunteers who restore it.

Looking ahead, Full Throttle is dreaming bigger:

Securing a building with a six-hoist capacity to serve as a permanent home for the shop.
Recruiting more volunteers to help rebuild safe, reliable cars, with a goal of providing over 100 vehicles annually to individuals and families in need.
Offering hands-on sessions that connect new and seasoned mechanics, learning together and building authentic community.

Every car Full Throttle builds is a life rebuilt.
