About Chains To Light Ministries

Sex trafficking affects every state and communities around the world, with Michigan ranking among the top 10 states in the United States for human trafficking. Many survivors need ongoing support, but there are too few volunteers and resources to meet the need.

Cathryn knows firsthand how difficult it can be to recognize that you are trapped. She was in an abusive relationship without fully realizing the reality of her situation until a friend recognized the signs and helped her find safety. That experience began her journey toward healing and inspired her desire to support others facing similar circumstances.

During her own journey of restoration, Cathryn was connected to an organization that empowered survivors through safe housing, care and employment. This led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Ministry to Victims of Sexual Exploitation. After completing her degree, she interned at Elli’s House in Detroit, where she worked and volunteered alongside a team as they helped women move from chaos toward dignity, safety, healing and stability.

Through this work, Cathryn recognized a significant gap in long-term support. While many organizations provide vital services, survivors can sometimes fall through the cracks when they don’t have a clear next step, ongoing community, volunteers, or a safe place to turn.

Chains To Light helps fill that gap by offering practical support, Bible studies, and meaningful relationships. Cathryn is committed to walking alongside survivors as they pursue healing, safety, stability and freedom.
