A branch of Abide Ministries that equips and mentors global spiritual leaders to understand and walk in biblical understanding of power, using it for the good of others.

Matt has spent the past 30 years teaching philosophy as a college professor while also working as a farmer. Fifteen years ago, he led his first study abroad program, taking a group of students to a rural village in Africa where they stayed alongside a tribal community. Rather than simply visiting, the students observed, served, and learned from the people there. They returned home deeply moved and eager to make a difference.  

Through proceeds from his farm and the generosity of supporters, Matt helped raise enough funding to provide scholarships for ten students to complete university or trade school, creating opportunities that continue to impact families and their community.

His work has also taken him to Zimbabwe, where he lectured at universities and visited schools for the deaf and the blind. Despite limited resources, the schools help sustain their work by raising and selling chickens. One of their greatest challenges is securing the funds needed for chicks, supplies, and other school activities. Even so, their efforts are a powerful example of local people creating solutions for the good of their community.

At the heart of Matt’s work is a simple but profound conviction. Whether he is teaching in the classroom, working on the farm, or serving alongside communities around the world, he invites people to consider what he calls biblical understanding of power—a life rooted in love that uses one’s influence, gifts, and opportunities for the good of others.

Through education, local partnerships, and a commitment to serving others, Small Wonders Africa is fostering good.
